A New Creative Outlet
Since I was young, I've loved to express myself creatively, mainly through written platforms. Getting the opportunity to turn this writing into video, into something for people to more easily consume, is something I never would've thought I'd be confident enough to do, but here I am.
My name is Sophia Garcia and I'm a senior at Miami Lakes Educational Center. I'm in the Journalism strend in the Cambridge academy, and this has shaped me as a person. I've prided myself on knowing that, at all times, I am trying my best. Whether it be for my grades in school, a standardized test, or keeping up my interpersonal relationships, I constantly put forth maximum effort. I know what my maximum effort is, and I try to raise it every time I find myself disappointed in an end result. Everything is a learning opportunity. Being in Journalism has showed me that everything I do is a lesson for the future. Every article is setting me up to write a better one the next time we publish; every picture can teach me how to elevate my story telling techniques in the next event; the world is full of learning opportunities, and I find a lot to be focused in on my strand.
I hope that AICE Media at the AS level can serve as a learning opportunity for this year. I know where my faults lay in my past project, and I hope to work on them in this year's project. I look forward to learning about new camera, production, and film techniques throughout the year. With my current, and hopefully soon expanded knowledge of color theory, characterization, and other basic writing techniques, I trust that I have sturdy bases that will aid me in my journey to not only create a satisfactory project, but to express myself creatively. In order to complete all of this, the pre-production must start now!
