Documentary analysis of "DJs of Oman"

The documentary visually focuses on footage of the audiences of these DJs, or at least simulating the audiences that these DJs would have. The focus and message of the documentary follows the 4 featured individuals, 3 DJs and a producer, and allows the audience to get a more in depth look at the culture of music in Oman, as well as these artists’ inspirations to create and work with music.

These interviews, combined with the music that each of the artists provided, make up all the audio detail, allowing for the audience to get a better understanding of the world surrounding the displayed DJs. Because music is a very big factor of the documentary, I thought this was a very good choice on behalf of the creator.

The contrasts between the interviews and the darker parts of the documentary (the ‘club’ scenes) created a good contrast between the lighthearted nature of the featured individuals and the environment that they usually work in.

It was a very engaging documentary, ultimately teaching me about the culture in Oman and a little bit more about music production/ DJing. The editing and composition in its entirety made the documentary easy to comprehend and stay focused on.
